Who gives the SAT?
Any student who plans to pursue undergrad in US (or in Singapore NUS and NTU) has to mandatorily give the SAT. Even American students have to take this test. The best time to take the test in 11th grade. For earlier preparation, students of 10th grade take the PSAT (Preliminary SAT)
What does it test?
The SAT tests three major academic skills: Critical Reading, Writing and Mathematics. Each of these skills is tested extensively in the 4-hr long test and is scored from a minimum of 200 to a maximum of 800. Hence, the total SAT scores range from 600 to 2400.
When and how to give the test?
The test is taken 6 times a year for international students: May, June, October, November, December and December. For registering you need to have a valid passport and an account on www.collegeboard.com. The test is paper-pencil based and calculators are allowed.
