Who gives the GRE?
Students all over to aspire to pursue MS (Engineering fields) or PhD (Engineering and all other fields as well) in any foreign University must take this test. The 3 hr 45 mins test is valid for 5 years and is completely computer-based.
What does it test?
The GRE tests three main skills: Analytical (2 essays, each 30 minutes), Verbal Reasoning (2 sections, 30 mins each, 20 questions each) and Quantitative Reasoning (2 sections, 35 mins each, 20 questions each). Verbal and Quant sections are scored on a range of 130 to 170. The total score, hence, is from 260 to 340.
When and how to give the test?
The test can be given at any time during the year and you need a valid passport. The payment and registration is done at the website www.ets.org/gre. You will also be able to find some free sample questions on the website.
